My approach to making art utilizes an array of techniques and materials
exploring my personal history and my place in the world. My current work
relies heavily on stitching for mark-making. Each piece begins as found,
repurposed fabric which is dyed or stressed to add depth and interest. I use
various contemporary and traditional stitching, layering color, shape, and
pattern into the densely stitched surface creating texture and depth with
symbolism and meaning. My objective is to create a visual dialogue between
the viewer and the work, letting each viewer bring her own interpretation to
the piece.
